During winter, the presence of snow or ice on road can have serious consequences on traffic. With the aim to serve as a decision-making tool, a model simulating the behaviour of a snow layer on road has been developed. The model is the coupling of the models ISBA (a soil model) and CROCUS (a snow model). This models, developed by Météo-France, were previously adapted to simulate the particular conditions encountered on roads. The model was validated using a comprehensive experimental campaign on the experimental site of the Col de Porte (1320 m, Isère, France).
