This study presents the analysis of the fire behaviour of different species. The aim is to define the role of the fuel properties during its burning and to propose a simple reliable model for the oxidation of degradation gases to be included in a wildand fire spread model. The different species are crushed to reduce the influence of the surface to volume ratio on their fire behaviour. The burning of the samples produces laminar flames. The experimental study includes the characterization of the fuel properties, the analysis of degradation gases, the determination of the behaviour of the solid and gas phases and the understanding of the coupling between phases.
