This thesis considers the enhancement of 3D seismic images. These images are made of a stack of geological layers, which are interrupted by seismic faults. The objective consists of smoothing the geological layers while preserving the faults. Adaptive filtering methods – often used in seismic imaging – and anisotropic diffusion are well adapted to this problematic because they can take into account the layer's orientation as well as other criteria showing the possible presence of a fault.
