The accumulation of toxic metals in the soil is mainly inherited from parent materials or inputs through human activities. New techniques are being developed to remediate trace elements in contaminated soils such as phytoremediation and in situ stabilization. In situ stabilization technique is one of the common practices for reducing negative effects of metals and metalloids such as As, Cr, Cu and Zn in contaminated soils by adding amendments. The application of alkaline materials such as basic slag issued from steel industry and a modified basic slag doped in phosphate into the soil is a promising tool for the reduction of the mobility and the bioavailability of trace elements in contaminated soil and for the remediation of the soil to imp...
