The applications of miniaturized devices are no longer limited to electronic industry. Today, a new kind of microsystems called BioMEMS (Bio-MicroElectroMechanical Systems) are spreading in different fields, including biomedical, environmental and food industry applications. Recurring challenges are focusing on enabling processes for smaller, cost-effective, high-functionality devices, with more sensitivity and suitability for industrial scale development.
