The optical and vibrational properties of PEDT and some of its derivatives are studied, by means of optical spectroscopies : Raman scattering, infrared absorption and optical absorption. These results allow to interpret the modifications occurring in the electronic structure along the polymer chain during the doping process. We then propose a mechanism for these modifications. Firstly, we study the optical properties of the electrochemically synthesized polymer, and then those of the chemically prepared polymer.
