Complex wave systems can be classified in two categories, whatever the type of wave equation involved. When complexity is induced by the geometry of boundaries one speaks of Wave Chaos. In the case of heterogeneous media complexity is due to multiple scattering. Microwave 2D cavities are ideal model systems to investigate both regimes on a macroscopic scale.
