The structure of magnesio-silicate glasses have been studied by using two complementray spectroscopic methods : (i) The Raman spectroscopy allows to obtain information on the silicate network and on the network connectivity. The variations of the region between 800 and 1400 cm?¹ show the evolution of the polymerization degree as a function of various compositions. (ii) The local environment of the magnesium has been investigated by X-ray absorption spectroscopy at the Mg K-edge. The XANES spectra have been compared with the spectra of model compounds containing magnesium in different environments.
