To determine the composite mechanical properties, small coupons are often used that require preparation including edge cutting/machining. This cutting operation generate heat and strains, and cut surfaces are often affected by damages. It is of primary importance to understand how the mechanical performances are affected by the cutting operations. This study aims at the influence of the machining procedure (routing, end milling) of carbon/epoxy and glass/epoxy composite coupons on their mechanical performances. Three mechanical tests are considered: Iosipescu shear test, ring tension test and off-axis tensile test.
