In the context of mine warfare, the classification of objects laying on the seabed is based on the characterization of their associated cast shadows. However, a single view may not be sufficient to classify new types of mines which are specific in shape. Multiple views can then be used to alleviate some ambiguities. Our study starts by considering sonar imagery particularities. On the one hand, pixels statistic properties as well as the principle of sonar image formation provide some useful knowledge to be integrated in the segmentation step. On the other hand, shadows undergo geometric distortions caused by sonar performances or under a particular view.
