Nulling interferometry is considered for the study of exoplanets in the IR (6-20 um) and measuring their atmospheric emissions, reflecting a possible biological activity. To reach the interferometric contrast required to separate the planetary signal of the stellar signal, the wave fronts from the telescopes should overlap perfectly. The best solution consists of using a single mode waveguide collecting the planetary flux regardless of optical aberrations. My work was to characterize such integrated optics components.
