We propose to cover in this PhD, some part of the vast field of research on forest fires. We are more particularly interested in knowledge formalization (structuring of knowledge and its interrelationships) for the analysis of forest fire behaviour and more precisely for modelling of the rate of spread. The system “forest fire”, because of its complexity, must be apprehended by the modelling process of the phenomenon (experimentation, modelling and validation). We propose in this PhD, by the formalization of the corpus of knowledge resulting from experiments in natural environment, to help the modelling of the forest fire behaviour.
