Studying dust iron solubility and its redox state in atmospheric aqueous phase is essential to estimate impacts of atmospheric inputs on marine productivity and hence on C biochemical cycle. The aim of this work was to study the link between the mineralogical state of iron and its bioavailability (solubility/ redox speciation) over dust atmospheric cycle. I led to (i) a laboratory study in order to establish a database for the solubility and the redox speciation of dissolved iron coming from various minerals which constitute dust and (ii) on the field, a precise characterization of physico-chemistry and mineralogy parameters and solubility/redox speciation of iron into dust and into "red" rains in the West Africa-Tropical Atlantic region.
