Fiber lasers and amplifiers are of great interest for reaching high output powers because of their advantages in terms of thermal behaviour and efficiency. The main limitation appears in the pulsed regime where the peak powers are limited by nonlinear effects and material damage. A widely studied solution to overcome this problem is to distribute the amplification over several separate fiber amplifiers and to phase lock them to obtain their coherent combining. These systems require a very accurate control of the phase of each amplifier and are quite difficult to align when the number of emitters increases.
