Producing direct electrical energy, the fuel cell is often considered as a battery. However, it also produce a specific type of work in consuming the chemical energy carried by a fuel and a combustive. Hence, it also be viewed as a sort of internal combustion heat engine. Starting from this idea, we represent the fuel cell as an equivalent heat engine, the ideal fuel cell i.e. reversible in a thermodynamical way, being represent by a Carnot heat engine. Then, introducing this representation in the Finite Dimensions Thermodynamics framework, we define a endoreversible fuel cell that produce entropy only in exchanging mass and energy with the surrounding.
