Proton Exchange Membrane Fuel Cells are important devices that can cause improvements in the energetic domain. However, they still have many problems preventing their development and marketing. The highly coupled nature of physico-chemical phenomena occurring inside the fuel cell makes this system very complex and difficult to control. In particular, the membrane water management is one of the most delicate problems that affect the system performances. In this context, mathematical modeling represents an important tool for the comprehension, prediction and improvement of the fuel cell behaviour.
