This dissertation work is focused on the interrelations between supermolecular structure, properties and degradability of isotactic poly(1-butene) (PB-1). The most important evolution in PB-1 is a peculiar phase transformation from form II to form I after crystallization from melt. This phase transformation is characterized using calorimetry, wide-angle X-ray scattering and mechanical testing where changes in dependence on annealing conditions in time are observed. The effect of processing on resulting supermolecular structure is proven on injection-molded and extruded specimens using tensile testing. Because of high sensitivity of PB-1 to photodegradation, significant effects on thermal properties and the phase transformation is observed. ...
