The tyre/road noise plays a significant role in the road traffic noise pollution. It is generated by complex mechanisms influenced by several parameters such as the road texture, the contact geometry and the tyre characteristics. The present work deals with the numerical study of tyre/road contact for rolling noise prediction and focuses on the road texture influence. The contact problem is solved using a Two-scale Iterative Method (TIM) based on a multi-asperity approach of the road surfaces. The tyre is modelled by a viscoelastic half-space and characterised by standard rheologic models (Zener or generalised Maxwell).
