These telescopes take advantage of the atmospheric Cherenkov technique using stereoscopy, allowing to detect gamma-rays between 100 GeV and a few tens of TeV. The location of the H.E.S.S. telescopes in the Southern hemisphere allows to observe the central parts of our galaxy, the Milky Way. Tens of new gamma-ray sources were thereby discovered thanks to the galactic plane survey strategy.
