The requirement to prove the existence of news particles like quarks and the Higgs boson has led the development of two news branches for the research: the high energy physics or particle physics, dedicated to experimentally prove the existence of these new particles then to study their properties and the accelerator physics, dedicated to develop particles accelerators for the high energy physic.
