At the cross-roads of economic, management and engineering sciences, we aim to contribute to the building of new models for the economic evaluation of productive organizations. We first present the usual systemic approach of the firm through neo-classical economic theory, management control and cybernetic trends. But we then show why the dosage of various production factors, the normative cost analysis, and the process control which prevailed in the description and the evaluation of the factors-firm are no longer relevant to characterize the competencies-firm emerging from the new industrial context.
