The aim is to study the mechanical behaviour and the deployment of a pentagon-based tensegrity ring. This selfstanding, light-weight and deployable structure can be adapted to solve problems in various domains of civil engineering. This study is carried out in two approaches: theoretical modelling and experimental testing. The modelling consists of analysing mechanical response and of simulating deployment. The experiment is to study the behaviour of a real prototype in order to check the consistency of the theoretical model.
