This study focuses on the application of the Diels-Alder reaction in the synthesis of thermoreversible polymer networks and compatibilization of immiscible polymer blends. The studied polymers are polymethyl methacrylate and polyurethane. Thermoreversible networks were obtained by a Diels-Alder involving furan-maleimide couple. The furan or maleimide functionalized polymers were obtained either by chemical modification of a commercial polymer (case of PMMA) or by polyaddition reaction (case of polyurethane). Networks were then obtained by DA reaction with maleimide coupling agents (bis-or tris-maleimide) for furan functionalized polymers or DA reaction with furan coupling agents for maleimide functionalized prepolymers.
