In this work, we study the mechanical behaviour of crushable granular materials under quasi-static loading. It is well known that the higher the breakage ratio, the higher the material compressibility and the lower the peak shear strength. The source of this phenomenon is the brittle fracture of individual grains and their micro-mechanical loading conditions. Thus, recent works have focused on multiscale methods in order to predict the behaviour of the granular assembly. However, the subject is still open and therefore in this work we provide more empirical evidence, we validate existing models and we develop new predictive methods.
