The goal is to provide a co-simulation platform for the evaluation of performance and the validation in a normative context, of architectural protection systems for electrical energy distribution. For this, a communication system, based on an extension of TCP / IP, called the IEC 61850 standard, is implemented. This standard imposes constraints about system performance and a precise communication and is based on the use of an object-oriented approach. The standards supplies also advices on how the protection system must be organized globally.
