This thesis focuses on the adaptation of the self-heating test and the method of rapid determination of the endurance limit for high-strength carbon fiber reinforced epoxy matrix laminates. The interest in this method began twenty years ago, but its use has remained largely restricted to metallic materials. It is based on measuring the average temperature in specimen surface during a series of cyclic loading blocks of increasing amplitude. These thermal measurements are used to determine the endurance limit of the material fast. Self -heating tests were carried out on laminated carbon / epoxy under tensile loading conditions and endurance limit of each laminate tested was determined in less than 3 hours from the self-heating curves.
