In the northeastern part of the Paleozoic Rehamna massif, Cambrian to Lower Carboniferous sediments were structured during the Hercynian orogenesis posterior to the upper Visean to Namurian stage. The post-orogenie molasses, produced from rock falls and sliding of the latter edified fold belt, were deformed during the Permian compression. The Cambrian-Ordovician and Silurian were prevailed by shallow marine shelf deposits. The shelf geometry started being modified as from the Upper Silurian due to the predominance of N30° and N80° fault sets accompanied by horsts and grabens : thus, the appearance of the submeridian Imfout horst and the graben of northeastern Rehamna.
