Flood hazard knowledge is increasingly becoming critical in flood risk management. The hydrogeomorphological mapping emerged in France, aiming to provide authorities with floodplain cartography. That naturalistic approach, developed in the 1980 decade, spread through the South of France. Today, the hydrogeomorphological mapping is widely recognized for its reliability.
