For 25 years, national assessments show recurring findings on what students have acquired or not in mathematics at the end of French primary school. One may wonder about the contributions of these outcomes for teaching, and their potential impact on the practices of teachers in grade 6. This led us to formulate hypotheses on the origin of these findings and develop an experimental teacher training scheme called "PACEM" in which standardized assessments have dual status as information carriers as well as training tools.
