This manuscript is composed of two parts. The first part deals with the numerical analysis of approximation methods of fluid-structure interaction systems and with associated optimal control problems. Convergence results with error estimates for numerical schemes are obtained for a system of a rigid body immersed in an incompressible viscous fluid. The numerical schemes are based on approximation methods of Lagrange-Galerkin type with specific characteristic functions for the displacement of the solid structures. Numerical simulations are performed for rigids and deformable structures with a particular application to fish-like swimming viewed as a self-propeled phenomenon.
