High explosives (HE) are used in civilian and military applications to obtain brisant, ballistics, blast and thermal effects called usable effects. Their studies are useful to control their effects and to define the HE quantities strictly necessary inside pyrotechnic devices and to design protective systems to accidental explosions. HE has detonation characteristics, stability, and sensitivity to impact, friction and heating depending on the chemical substances and their manufacture operating method. They are characterized inside the triangle effects (brisance, ballistics, blast, thermal effects)-sensitivity-stability, called « physics of explosives ».
