Nanomaterials are used in many industrial sectors, and many nanomaterial-containing consumer products are already available. In this context of increasing human exposure to nanomaterials, the evaluation of their genotoxicity is of significant importance. However, the relevance of routinely used genotoxicity assays, developed for non-nanoparticular products, is often questioned for the evaluation of nanomaterials.
