Domain walls in ultra-thin ferromagnetic films are the cornerstones of many emerging devices, for both information processing and data storage. However, observing such magnetization patterns remains challenging, notably because the number of magnetic moments is particularly low in these atomic-thick layer. In this thesis, we propose to use a new imaging technique for studying domain walls, namely the NV centre scanning microscopy. This technique relies on the measurement of the energy shifts caused by the Zeeman effect on the electronic spin of a single NV colour centre in diamond, and combines unequalled characteristics for measuring the magnetic field in a quantitative fashion and with an atomic detection volume. The beginning of the thes...
