This manuscript is composed of three parts.Part I is devoted to theoretical investigations of the thermo-electrohydrodynamic (TEHD) convection. This convection is generated by an electrohydrodynamic (EHD) effect, called dielectrophoretic (DEP) force, on non isothermal fluid layer. This thermal force can be assimilated with the thermal Archimedean force by introducing an electric effective gravity. This gravito-EHD analogy enables us not only to understand intuitively the flow motion under the DEP force, but also to simulate geophysical flows at global scales by EHD experiments.
