This work aims to increase knowledge of a high-field varistor elaboration process based on soft chemistry and powder metallurgy. Varistors are voltage-dependant resistors, generally used as surge suppressors in various electrical systems.First, the effect of three synthesis parameters on the powders’ physico-chemical properties were studied. These process parameters are dopants concentration (cobalt and manganese) as well as the duration of two ripening steps, after the addition of sodium hydroxide and oxalic acid to the chloride precursor solution.Sintering mechanisms in conventional kiln were then studied according to the Master Sintering Curve method.
