An organic photovoltaic (OPV) cell consists of a thin-layer stack which includes a transparent electrode, usually made of indium tin-doped oxide (ITO). Alternative, indium-free materials, deposited in air with a wet deposition process on large, flexible substrates that are more compatible with the OPV field are currently widely investigated. Silver nanowires (Ag NWs), which represent a serious candidate to replace ITO, are the subject of this thesis.
