The present work deals with the development of a relativistic Hartree-Fock-Bogoliubov model in axial symmetry. For the first time, a relativistic self-consistent mean-field approach which treats explicitly the exchange contributions can be applied for the description of both deformed and superfluid nuclei. There are advantages in using a relativistic formulation in comparison to non-relativistic approaches. The relevance of a covariant framework is not imposed by the need for relativistic nuclear kinematics, but rather it is linked to the use of Lorentz symmetries. In particular, the effectiveness of relativistic approaches in describing the nuclear systems lies in the distinction between Lorentz scalars and time-like component of 4-vectors...
