Researches concerning stem cells have made great progresses, and become a hot spot in medical sciences, which has gradually transformed from basic research to clinical application. Many types of stem cells were used in male infertility, including spermatogonia stem cells (SSCs), mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs), embryonic stem cells (ESCs), and induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs). However, there are still some problems and challenges, such as safety, effectiveness, ethics, law, market regulation and other aspects. This article reviews the research and progress of stem cells, and provides reference for the application of stem cells more rationally in the field of male infertility
