It has been shown previously that chiral materials can rotate the direction of incident polarized light. This work focuses on a new way of investigating the polarized response of chiral metamaterial structures and nanoparticles. In the theoretical part of this work, fundamental concepts related to chirality are defined. Previous contributions to quantify the chirality of planar shapes are reviewed. The prospects of different expressions based on triangle models are highlighted. A dual photo-elastic modulator incorporate with lock-in amplifier techniques is used to measure the polarization states alteration.
