This present study examines the relationship among competency development, empowering leadership, employee-organisation relationship, psychological flexibility and career success in the Chinese hotel industry. Using the survey data of 560 employees working in 45 hotels, the salient results of PLS-SEM suggest that the interplays of competency development and empowering leadership significantly enhance the employee-organisation relationship and career success. Empowering leadership also significantly affects the competency development of the employee.
