The purpose of this dissertation is to study the perceived behavior of directors of for-profit corporations as they perform as directors of not-for-profit organizations. Do they perceive their own behavior and that of their peers to be the same or different in the two different environments? If different, how and why? And, what do they think should be done about it? Although distinguished individuals in academia, the for-profit and not-for-profit worlds have speculated that behavioral differences exist, this is the first time it has been documented.
