This thesis reports the development of several novel chemical sensing systems, self-assembled aggregates, and membrane transporters in which noncovalent and/or dynamic covalent interactions operate.Perylenebisimide dyes functionalized with boronic acid groups were designed as effective chirality sensors for [alpha]-hydroxy carboxylates.
