The study of the interesting phenomena exhibited in the Trenton limestone at its contact with the essexite of Mount Royal has hitherto been hampered by the scarcity of suitable exposures. It is true that such a contact has been exposed in the Corporation (Forsyth) Qyarry, at Outremont for many years but while the petrographical examination of specimens of the metamorphosed rock from this outcrop has indicated the presence of a complex assemblage of contact minerals it has failed to afford a basis for a broad interpretation of the contact phenomena.
