During the last fifteen years considerable study has been made of most of the organs of the human body and among these is the placenta. Medical schools have attempted to learn its physiological functions, especially as to the part it plays in the production of certain pathological conditions. Bio-chemists have investigated its chemical nature. Others have studied it from yet different points of view.
