Various (ligand)nickel(0)-ethene complexes react with ethyne in ether or pentane at low temperature to afford crystalline compounds of types (R<sub>3</sub>P)<sub>2</sub>Ni(C<sub>2</sub>H<sub>2</sub>), {(RO)<sub>3</sub>P}<sub>2</sub>Ni(C<sub>2</sub>H<sub>2</sub>), (<sup>t</sup>BuNC)<sub>2</sub>Ni(C<sub>2</sub>H<sub>2</sub>), (R<sub>3</sub>P)Ni(C<sub>2</sub>H<sub>2</sub>)(C<sub>2</sub>H<sub>4</sub>), {(R<sub>3</sub>P)-Ni(C<sub>2</sub>H<sub>4</sub>)}<sub>2</sub>(µ-C<sub>2</sub>H<sub>2</sub>), {(R<sub>3</sub>P)Ni(C<sub>2</sub>H<sub>2</sub>)}<sub>2</sub>(µ-C<sub>2</sub>H<sub>2</sub>), and (R<sub>3</sub>P)Ni(C<sub>2</sub>H<sub>2</sub>)<sub>2</sub> (R = Me, Et, <sup>i</sup>Pr,Ch, Ph).
