Spin Dynamics of a Kondo System in the Presence of Crystal Fields

Neutron scattering experiments were performed on single crystals of (CexLa1-x)Al2 with x varying between 0.07 and 0.70 in the temperature range from 3 to 300 K. The energy spectra of the magnetically scattered neutrons were analysed in terms of two quasielas-tic lines due to the relaxation of the isolated Ce3+ ions in the Γ7 and Γ8 levels and of an inelastic line due to the crystal field transition between the levels.
