Implementation of Task-based Language Teaching: enhancing students’ motivation in learning English as a Foreign Language

Consequently, countries arenow more connected between them, and the need for a common language for communication appears.Nowadays, the language used for international communication is English, thus, it is important forpeople to learn it. Sincethe 1950s different theories have tried to explain the way people acquire theirFirst Language (L1) or Foreign Language(FL).Although everyone’s acquisition process is similar, the learning process may differ from one student to the other as not everyone is motivated to learn the language because they may find it difficult, or boring. Learninga FLturns out to be a difficult process once the learners are older than fourteen years old due to the interference of their L1 and their individual traits affecting their personality (motivation, self-consciousness, shyness...).Therefore,different approaches have been suggested to ease the learning process and make it as complete as possible. Task-based Language Teaching (TBLT)is one of these approaches and the focus of this study. This paper aims to provide a teaching proposal for students at the 3rd year of secondary school in Spain. The purpose is to produce a teaching proposal that they can enjoy and from which they can learn English while being motivated as well as improving their confidence towards the learning process
