The partial substitution of Co by Ru in lanthanum cobaltite perovskites (LaCo1−x Rux O3 , x = 0.05 and 0.2) and its influence on the reducibility and structural modifications in the perovskite lattice have been eval- uated by N2 adsorption isotherms, in situ X-ray diffraction (XRD), temperature-programmed reduction (TPR) and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). Characterization of LaCo1−xRuxO3 perovskite precur- sors reveals that Ru is incorporated into the perovskite lattice, producing a distortion of the original rhombohedral structure, a decrease in mean crystallite size and some increase in the surface area.
