The calibration of MDT tubes of the ATLAS muon spectrometer is reviewed. The purpose of the note is to summarize the present understanding and to frame the implementation of the algorithms in the software. The calibration model, the measurement of the individual tube constants, like the offset t0, and the maximum drift time tmax, and the computation of the r-t relation are presented. The corrections to the measured time, to account for local differences in parameters, like temperature and magnetic field, are defined. In addition the resources necessary for the production of MDT calibration constants, both in the DAQ and computing sectors, are estimated
