This project aims to study the plausibility of using geophysical method alone to study the physical properties of offshore sediments in Hong Kong. GEOTEK’s Multi-scanner Core Logger is an automatic device that allows the continuous measurement of physical properties in a fast, high resolution and non-destructive manner. HKUV10, a bored core that is retrieved from the offshore area South of Lantau Island, is studied in this project. Physical properties, including bulk density, fractional porosity, P-wave velocity, P-wave amplitude, impedance and magnetic susceptibility are measured along core.
